Go to Neptune Aquatics! Staff are all great and they have several great looking display tanks.

although i have said that afa is expensive. they're pretty dang good. i think they're official ADA retailers and their stock is very well kept. they dont have a huge selection of plants but its pretty decent. all their tanks are really well kept and stuff. their shrimp are really good quality too very deep colors. they also have amazing planted tanks set up in the store. look for the manager. its run by a family i believe a mom and her son and then some employees.

o also i would NOT recommend ocean aquarium. their tanks are filthy and of stuff . they have a lot of guppies and stuff but i have a feeling they dont do frequent water changes because their tanks look like little bogs just filled with moss and duck weed. its also in a really bad area. tons of homeless people and NOT near Ghirardeli Square at all. last time i went there there was a giant pile of human poop in the middle of the street. if you want to visit sf go to AFA. what are you actually looking to buy?

if you're looking to see pretty interesting fish as well you could go to the one on 6th and clement. their quality is very good, but they have interesting things to look at (some of their stock is questionable as to whether or not it is legal or not). and there is one on ocean avenue i forgot its name. their stock is a little low right now because i think they're doing some stuff with their tanks or something but the owner is prety helpful.
