I agree absolutely fish is very expensive, but they do take good care of their fish and they are of good quality. They are also pretty good when it comes to special orders.
Where is Fish Emporium? Pet Shanty, Aquascapeonline (aquarium paradise), and shark aquarium are great spots too. If you are bored on a weekend go to aqascape or shark aquarium. A lot of times you can see stuff there you won't see anywhere else which is fun |

I haven't been there since I learned you can haggle with them, a friend who lives in Clifton told me about it. They write "net" next to the prices they won't deal on, everything else they will. If anyone ever gets out to the northwest part of NJ, check out Adam's pet safari, I've had great luck there, and good pricing. Dover pet shop has limited selection but possibly the cheapest prices anywhere. There's also Ely's in florham park.

Hmmmmm......haggle for a few fish/plants? I love my fish, but to walk in there like it's a car dealership and "work out" a price seems like a little more than I want to go through, especially when Fish Hut is like 5 minutes away, and their prices are better. I like the place, and I do not doubt that they take very good care of the fish. I just feel you should give me your best and final price instead of trying to take me for a few bucks. Doesn't sound too cool.....

yea, when i have to... i don't like their supplies very much but i did get some great 8" cubes there... their inverts stink... and i don't have any fish (yea, i know it's a fish tank) some people there know their stuff others :O
.. where do you go for stuff? if you have CO2 ... where do you go for CO2 stuff (tanks refills) the DIY is not controllable and with a 6 gallon i need to control it so it's minimal flow and i keep over doing it... not happy i wanted to do diy on my 2 gallons

OMGOSH! I pass both E Hanover and Ledgewood 2x a week.. i didn't realize that is where i would go! that's easy!
so..if you don't mind me asking what regulator/etc do you use? I know that's a loaded question... but i'm looking at going regulated rather then diy as i'm having problems getting the diy slow enough.

Browns mills!! 20 mins south of the Dix McGuire Lakehurst joint base!
Been to aquarium center in clementon. Pretty good place compare to most petsmarts and petco. Has red cherry and amano shrimps. I have a tank full of Xmas moss, java, java fern, Marino balls and hornwort. Red cherries, fire reds, dwarf puffers, danios and cherry barbs is what I have stocked. Going to get blue velvety someday! Hope to meet more south jersey people

I have a GLA Atomic Regulator V3 for my 10g. I use a CGA320 to paintball adapter in case I want to use the regulator on a larger tank in the future. Haven't gotten around to setting up the system or the tank yet, as I'm still waiting on the plants to arrive. Just got the tank itself filled up at Sports Authority around a week ago.

Bloomingdale, NJ Passaic County.
If you want to meet other NJ and some NY members in their home occasionally, join the NJAGC. It doesn't cost anything and you might get some plants at the meeting in the plant swap. We have a private forum where we spend time when not at a meeting. We have members in South, Central, and North Jersey. Our next meeting will be a tank tear down for a member that is moving out of state.

Even though we have not changed the wording restricting members to those 16 or over, we will allow you to join the club. We were discussing this at a board meeting and none of us want to discourage young hobbyists. Just make sure you let it be known you are under the age limit. If there is still a problem, let me know via PM here, or fill out the contact us form on NJAGC web site-it goes to me.
The restriction in age had to do with a hesitancy to allow young members to go to the meetings in the homes of the members. This still is a concern. Some members would not feel comfortable with a 10-14 year old being dropped off at his/her home and then have the parent leave to return in a few hours to pick up their child. This actually did happen once. We need to get to know you via the NJAGC forum. And we would need to have your parent stay at the meeting with you during the meeting. I do remember getting a request from a parent in the last few months asking about the age restriction because their child was so interested in aquatic plants. I did respond to it via the email given. I wonder if that was your parent.
