Please read above. The Hydor Mini Heater referenced merely increases water temperature a few degrees above room temperature (there's even a link for you to click).

well it was refenced by other person so not all heat pads are the same, yours just made it seem like any heat pad could only acheive 5°+ ambient room temp so i was just clarifying that they can do better. if its referenced by other person and u say heat pads will only go up 5° it kinda leads to info that isnt true thats all i was pointing out.
a good company that makes heat mats is hydrofarm btw if anyone is looking come in sizes and diff wattages if someone wanted to keep everything out of the tank. |

Where would the heat mat go, though? Under the gravel?
I would love to find a heat that could wrap around the filter, or even the hoses! I wonder if that would work. Actually, if you took the downward/intake hose from the tank and extended it a couple of feet, you could probably figure out some way to coil it so that it's in the heated area for a while without weakening the flow! Possible DIY!

If you run an AquaClear, you can put a small heater inside it.

That would be excellent. But what heater could possibly fit into one of those???

There are all kinds of small heaters on the market. Even at PetSmart.
Best to check all the typical aquatics retailers online to find the best deal.

Thanks, but that is not very helpful
I am actively looking for a good way to heat this little tank, and haven't seen a heater that will fit into a small HOB filter (at least one that has a themostat).

Google is your friend in this instance.
As are all of the typical aquarium retailers that sell small heaters. I.E.,: Ken's Fish, Big Al's, Drs. Foster & Smith, That Fish Place, Amazon, PetSmart, PetCo, Aquarium Guys, Marine Depot, et al. There's everything from Cobalt to Hydor to Fluval to Eheim.

Thanks for that.
I actually have already heard of Google but I still haven't been able to find a heater with a thermostat that will fit into an HOB filter sized for the Ebi. Amazingly, I was able to use the interweb and had already found all of those retailers and brand names that you illuminated.

I wasn't being facetious in the least and offered several examples. There's not really a reason to be unappreciative or sarcastic unless you're waiting for someone else to search through all the heaters on the market and make a specific list for you...?
There are several controllable heaters on the market that fit in AC20s, AC30s. Best of luck to you. Quote:

I wonder if the Zoomed 501 has 1/2 tubing - if so I think a could of disconnects are a good idea. Those have proven handy in my big tank - there always seems to be a splash of water without them
