the Ilex crenata (japanese holly)

Juniper parsonii this one is hard to see the trunk line and details. the trunk kind of curves backwards a little, its cool. so in the sketches, picture the top not directly above the base.

I keep all my trees outside unless it's freezing and recently got a greenhot house, so I keep them outside all year now.

Since it rarely gets below freezing and then only at night and only a few degrees, maybe 10F below tops...........I use a heating mat for those nights.

Only for the tropical trees, the Ficus and some other house like plants, need this, the majority of the trees are fine.

Keeping them well watered during summer here is another matter.

My old bosai from when I was in my 20's got stolen from my porch and likely all died a tragic death since they were small and needed frequent watering and ferts.

It's been a month so....

The tree has taken off since defoliation. It's time for a trim, but I might just wait for the leave to fall. Glosso is going mad. I planted a few scraps on 7/31 and this is what it looks like today. My next tree I'm going to try HC.

That's pretty incredible Anthony! Can you explain one more time what you did (i.e. how you got it to survive with little/no acclimation)? Crazy stuff! I have access to all sorts of emmersed plants...

Just the humidity tray. The scraps came from a club member at our last meeting. I didn't do anything, but plant the scraps about 1 inch down and water. I love how it holds all the lava rock in place too. Give it a try.

Already done it (did it over the weekend). Pics when it starts to take off!

It won't last the winter most likely, will it?

Same here on the winter weather. If it dies, I have a little glosso in my emersed setup. I'll just plant more in March and it will be full again in April haha.

Do you want some of my magical glosso? I'll trade you for some HC?
