Well congrats. I love my spec.
While I'm setting up another nano, my prized shrimps always go in my spec. They're only really appropriate for inverts or the smallest of fish. One dwarf puffer Some least kilifish Mosquito rasboras Or shrimp colonies lol. From MABJ's iPhone 2G Fluval Spec ~ fauna and flora in the works!

My spec came today! Only problem is that the substrate shipped separately and won't arrive until Monday, boo!!!
Here it is with a piece of driftwood and some floating java moss

Substrate arrived yesterday while I was out of town, so I put that in, then I fished out my pregnant ghost shrimp from the 29G and put her in there. She seems content, but I need to get some plants.
I found her in the filter compartment a few hours later, so I'm thinking I need to stop that up somehow... gonna put some polyfill behind it for now.

She was in the compartment at the top -- maybe climbed through the little vent holes? I'll take your advice on putting something behind the lower hole too.

Here's the tank with substrate in, still haven't decided which plants I'm going to move into it yet, so she gets to make do with the java moss.

My shrimp was at the bottom of the foam-block compartment today, so per some advice from MABJ and others, I also took some time to cover the lower filter entrance with filter floss. I lowered the flow rate in the tank to a very very slow pace by removing the tube from the pump, and I stuck another piece of foam batting inside the pump compartment for good measure.
I took a large section of the Java Moss from my 29G tank and put it in the spec too. I'm wondering if I should put some aquarium salt in there? I was reading that maybe 1/2tsp would be good for momma and babies?

Solid work with the floss. How did you rescue?
I'm unfortunately pretty sure I lost a lot of babies that way /: Anyways, what shrimp? Ghost shrimp? What other inhabitants? It depends on those two things. From MABJ's iPhone 2G Fluval Spec ~ fauna and flora in the works!

I rescued her by cutting a long thin piece of filter padding material and sliding it down and coaxing her onto it, then pulling it up to the very top and gently moving it over to the big side. There's a small pond snail I saw in there, but nothing else.
