my 2.5g with a 38 gallon sump?

so i wanted a 2.5 gallon sharing the water from my 38 gallon. so here are the pics, step by step as I did it.

I made a little overflow box from a specimen container, with a sponge to trap any shrimp that get sucked in.

Its gotten overgrown with guppy grass, random moss and duck weed. All from the random shrimp packages I've received. I really need to clean it up, but the DHG is growing well. lol

Personally I like a little algae growing on rocks and wood, gives it a natural look.

Im sorry how does water get from the 38 gallon to the 2.5 gallon? I want to do something like this but with a 38 gallon and a 72 gallon... any tips?

I have a pump going from the 38 to the 2.5. Since the 2.5 is slightly higher than my 38, water flows back down to the 38 from a mini overflow i built. Hope that helps.

Sadly its been overrun by guppy grass and duck weed, and my neglect due to a new lady friend.

But its just fluval shrimp substrate and a CF bulb i had laying around in a swing arm lamp. I think its 6500K.
