Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, and both magnesium and sulfate are used in small amounts by aquatic plants. You can dose a teaspoon of Epsom salt every three months or so and it will help keep your aquarium plants healthy. B

get a copy of your local water report. if you already have enough in your tap water, you don't need to add any.

If you are using a micro mix like plantex miller or leafzone you have enough. If you don't fertilize you shouldn't be deficient. Were you reading a thread on diy ferts?

Small water changes do very little to maintain stable water properties. IMO, you should be removing and replacing half the water in the tank every week. By performing large, weekly water changes, you guarantee safe water conditions for plants and fish, because the water isn't in the tank long enough for toxins to build up, before the next large change. Since you go to the effort of getting out the equipment for a water change, take a couple of more minutes and remove a little more water. Your fish and plants will be healthier. B
