what is this parasite on my honeycomb catfish?

One of my honeycombs died today and while I was looking at the body, It was red. Like as if it had been hemorrhaging internally. Like all the white portions were stained with red and there was a visible blood mark on the head. What I didn't notice until later was that there was a small yellow circle thing that was moving along the fish's body. It looked as if it had 2 eyes as well and was kinda looking like a small yellow stingray with no tail. What is this? I can't get a proper picture but it looks like a tiny stingray with 2 little tiny black "eyes" and it kinda scoots over the fish's body. It is yellow and there is one on my other honeycomb which concerns me...

WOW i have never seen/heard of this parasite before... what a creepy-looking creature.

I'm sorry to hear that one of your honeycombs died. I hope your other won't suffer from the same fate.

Does this parasite have to be introduced, or can it appear for other reasons?

I have no idea. I wish I knew but apparently from looking around it has to be introduced? But I haven't added anything in the past weeks to my tanks. I added some ember tetras yesterday but the honeycomb died before that.
Treatment is mildly annoying. The weird thing is that I think my other honeycomb may have had these to start with, the first one that died. I'll have to see what happens.

You have to add organophosphates and the follow it up with antibiotics I think. That's what one source said. They said that this has to be very careful with Amazon fish (my entire is all Amazon fish) since they are sensitive and if water hardness is under 50ppm it won't work. The ideal is 200ppm. I found that on the aquatic community website.

They are common on gold fish.. I see them all the time in little run down mom and pop shops who don't seem to care about their fish.. Ive had it once before years ago, and I just took them off very carefully with rounded ended tweezers and the fish was fine, granted I kept him under water the whole time in a holding tank, kept him for a few years before I had to move and take down the tank. He went into a friends pond. Im assuming hes still alive in my friends pond now..
