Improved Circulation. Powerhead Help

I have never used a powerhead, but am thinking of getting one of these two:

www.bigalsonline.com

I want to put it in the back corner of my tank were there is very little circulation. I don't want to make a whirlpool out of the tank, but I want to reduce a lot of the dead spots as far as current goes.

My fear, having never seen one used is it will suck up and kill my shrimp, or other small life in the tank. Does anyone recommend one of these or another powerhead?
