How often do you re-scape?

I'm a beginner in this but how often do y'all do a total re-scape or at least major changes. I'm not talking about just moving something or playing around with a few things, I'm talking about totally changing the way your tank is laid out.

I've got mine started with no overall theme or rhyme or reason. I haven't really thought of one either. I was just thinking of doing things a little more organized and was curious how often (if ever) you reset most everything?

I usually rescape every 6-12 months, just depends on what I have and what I want. Whenever I feel the need really ^^

So far, once every 7 months or so, because I'm never 100% happy with the result. Hopefully my next scape will last at least a couple years, because I just bought a bundle of awesome manzanita branches to scape with.

Do any of you ever notice any problems from a big change as far as scaping goes?

I rarely rescape. I may move around a few plants but thats about it. I never move or disturb my substrate. Having to break down my tank for an issue is something different and I will at that point.

I seem to get the itch to change things every 6 months or so. There have always been things that bother me about each scape and I plan for at least a month just what I want to change. I wonder if it there will be some point where everything is just fine and I would leave the tank alone except for routine pruning and replanting? Probably not but it would be nice.

It hasn't happened in recent years but a big upheaval without draining the tank way down and refilling caused a lot of debris to settle on the plants and I got a massive infestation of BBA. Lost lots of stems that time. More recently - before getting big sponges in the sump last autumn every big scape change resulted in yet another bout of green water. A healthy biological filter seems important in my particular system.

Every time I have to catch a ram. Anything else I can get out, but even if I pull out EVERYTHING the rams are still little devils to find and scoop out.

I suspect the hi-tech folks with C02 are going to be willing to give into the urge to re-scape much more often; they'll get new plant growth in next to no time. Low-tech or low-light? Not so much.

I usually re-scape when I get bored with a layout or have neglected it for a while.

Somewhere between every 6 months, up to 2 years, depending on the setup. As of late, I've been using soil substrate, and trying to rescape without making a HUGE mess just isn't worth it. I just suck it up and live with it until mechanical failure or I have to move. LOL.
