Hey what temp do you keep them? I am wondering if snails can live in warmer water say 82-86F range, ie Discus temp.

vandominic, those are beautiful tanks! I have nerites, but they are a couple of dollars apiece here... I think I'll pick up more anyway
Love the "tree". What kind of shrimp do you have in there? Noticed a yellow shrimp (Neocaridina?) and a ghost shrimp..?Have to subscibe to this! Have fun with your experiment..

Im very sorry toffee. I have no tank thermometer and I do not know what the temp range for my tank. I live in the southern Philippines just a little above the equator and its tropical here. Hot and humid often times except when it rains.

Here is another video of my tank where I demonstrate what I have just disovered this morning. That aquatic plants produce much oxygen when exposed to direct sunlight and when covered even for a few seconds they would slowdown or even stop producing oxygen bubbles. But when again uncovered they resume releasing much bubbles. :-)

Did another experiment with my sun tank. I wanted to know if I did not infuse co2 on the tank, would the Pearlweeds still produce bubbles under direct sunlight. Its been three days since I stopped giving pressurised co2 to the tank and I have observed that the Pearlweed still produces bubbles in the morning when the sunlight hits them directly and also in the afternoon even when the sunlight is not directly on them.

Don't be too happy about seeing bubbles. The reason you are still seeing bubbles is, your plants are using calcium carbonate, magnesium etc. to get their needed carbon. This method of acquiring co2 is an energy intensive means for the plants and will eventually lead to poor growth; co2 injection is not. So turn on the co2 again. |

Thanks TeteRouge! Yes I'm breeding them both in this tank because I have no other tank that I could use for each of them.

Thank you for this advice. I have already turned the co2 on this morning. I just experimented on it because somebody asked me if the Pearlweed still bubbles without co2. I did notice my other plants especially no longer doing well when I deprived them of co2. Thanks again |
