20g Iwagumi

I recently helped a friend setup a 55 dirted tank and wanted to give it a shot. Thankfully I had a 20 just waiting to be filled I used 1 bag of prochoice organic miracle grow and some plain black gravel. I'm hoping to just "sit and forget" and not have to dose this tank and let the dirt do it's thing.

There are 11 Rummynose and 3 celebes rainbows

I'm using two 20w 6500k cfls mounted vertically with cheapo shop lights from home depot.

As you can see, I only have a few patches of HC atm. I'm hunting for some hairgrass and 1 more midground plant. If you know where to grab some in the dfw, let me know!

First off, thanks for your kind words!

Unfortunately all my fish but one passed one night Twas a spike in ammonia I assume, I've been monitoring it like a hawk since.

Empty tank are sad tanks, so I just made this into a good time to finally get a good shrimp tank going! I just love all of the varieties.

I purchased 20 shrimp from Gordonrichards, he's great!

Here's the tank as it is today. It is more clear than it seems, but I can't take a not yellow picture of it. The crystal red shrimp seem to like their new home!

The HC seems to have hit the dirt finally and is starting to grow. I'll be getting a few more plants soon.

Haven't updated in a while, still waiting on the rest of my plants due to the heat wave we've been having here. I need to remember to take pics after a water change, it always comes out super yellow.

I also realized that I can use my jeweler's loupe to take macros with my camera. There are a couple of berried females, but they wouldn't hold still.

Funny-- At first I thought you had a time machine and a key to my old apartment and took a pic of my old tank in 2009! (not so similar, species-wise, I see now)

Btw, I foresee a future when you, tired of the pond snails infesting your camera angles, purchase a couple of assassin snails, who then spawn into a a colony of 50 or so... Just saying
