Filter for standard 10 gallon tank

I need a filter for a standard 10 gallon tank. I have 3 tetras and lots of cherry shrimp in the tank. Right now I have a Tetra 5-15 filter on the back that leaves lots of stuff floating in the water. I have a low light tank with java moss, anubas and soon to have crypts.

Suggestions?

if youre not looking to complicate things. just up the filter size. and what kinds of things are floating in the tank? if its food, then feed sparingly.

I'd get an AquaClear 20 or 30.

If you want to get all fancypants, an Eheim 2211 would also be a decent option.

+2: The aquaclear is a much better filter, and the 20 is fine for a 10 gallon tank, the 30 is a bit on the large side, but there is a flow control.

Put a sponge over the intake so the shrimp will not get into the filter.

AC20 or 30. I'm running the AC20 on my 10g.

If you're not overly concerned with the flow, get the 30 and dial the flow back as the 20's have some minor vibration noise issues here and there which some people find annoying. Based on advice online, I used a dab of vasoline on the impeller shaft and it is now completely silent.

Also noted, I use the Fluval Pre-Filter sponge which fits the intake tube perfect.

Thank you everyone. I'm going with the AC20. Very flexible with what you can add to it.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and planted tanks. I figured for my first post here, I'd help someone with a bit of "I done it too." I have a reef tank too. Just thought I'd throw in for the OP that I use an aquaclear 20 on my new planted 10G standard beta/tetra tank.

My new tank...still waiting for cycling. It has DIY C02 using info I found here.
