Yes, the water returns directly to the surface of the tank water. I just keep the water as high as I can in the tank to keep water agitation to a minimun, which means I am topping off every 2-3 days. What do you mean when you said "so you have no problems with it off gassing prior to reaching the water" Mike?

I was wondering if the CO2 loss was great after the impeller and passing through your filter media. I just hooked my CO2 line directly to the bottom of the intake on the whisper 200. Will keep an eye on it.

Even a lil CO2 is better then none... small tanks like these though I would just use excel to supplement, less hassle, more precise and the bottle aint as ugly. LOL

The tank is looking nice Kyle and those sure are beautiful crypts!
I wouldnt want to go uprooting them for the look though, they hate to be messed with.
I would probably either go with some thin branches (less water displacement then stone) to give some depth or even some R. indica in the left rear corner or even start another crypt corner.
That tennellus is also beautiful, another plant I want to try some day ... yours appears to be very happy
