Mixing angels with dwarfs?

I just picked up a juvie trio of angels and I'd like to see if I can add a breeding pair of apistos or rams for more action. So far only one angel is aggressive since they are trying to figure out who will be the dominant. However can a breeding pair of Angels coexist with breeding dwarfs? If not no biggy the Angels are my centerpiece untill I get some altums

I've had a pair of Angels happily coexisting with a pair of Bolivians for over a year. They occupy different areas of the tank. It has lots of plants and driftwood, so there are plenty of hiding places, tho it doesn't seem that they need it.

YW. I must add a caveat, tho. (sorry I missed the breeding part, my bad) Yes, I have rummynoses, otos, and cories in there as well. That being said, I wouldn't count on breeding. Angels get nasty while spawning and caring for young, and Bolivians usually won't spawn in a community setting. I actually started out with what turned out to be F-M-M (I think) Angels. They were all beauties, but when the first spawn took place the female started getting abused, and the rest of the tank were in hiding. Since I couldn't get another tank, I sold her and the remaining two Angels hang out together and pay no mind to the rest of the community. The Bolivians only showed spawning behaviour once. They wander around the bottom and have their little hidey holes... So I found a balance, but it excludes breeding...

Sent that way late, hoping mine atleast pair off I want breeding experience with Angels before I take on altums. Looking at the Angels in my tank right now it shocks me to see them so closely grouped but then again they have tetras zipping around them

Yes, actually they did. These photos are bad, was struggling with a new camera when I took them-everything seemed over-exposed or dull. The pics don't show how beautiful these Angels are, with their red eyes and silver blue scales. But it'll give you an idea...The original trio:

The breeding pair: if I had a nursery tank with a bubbler, this would've been the time to move them. Since I didn't, the eggs were gone the next morning... The female was getting beaten up by her mate and #3 (see the frayed tail on the smaller one?) except when spawning. I sold her to keep her happy and alive (I hear shes doing very well). The male and #3 (unsexed) do well together.

The remaining two:

The Bolivian pair: note the female's breeding tube on the left..

Hmm. I got my trio when their bodies were about quarter sized (at the most) just over a year ago. they paired up in about 8 mos..

I hope that's not too many photos,. Best of luck with them!

How big is the tank?

I would not keep 3 angles in a tank smaller then 40gal. 2 in a 30gal is ok not ideal. Throw in a breeding pair of apisto and it could be one stressed out tank.

It really all depends on the tank size. I see no problems at all with 3 angles and a few pairs of apistos in a 55 gal.
