Looking to try Finnex
Presently I have a planted 125 gallon aquarium. I am using pressurized co2 along with ~400 watts of power compacts. I have been researching going to leds for a while but I just need a little more help. I have seen the par charts but I guess I am not smart enough to figure them out. If I put a 4 foot and a two foot aqua 2 on my tank does this become a medium light tank? Or in other words will these two fixtures be all I need on a 6 foot light hood.

What are the dimensions of your 125? A standard 125g?

It'll put you in on the medium/high light side for stock under or front/back of the fixture. I do question the remaining 2' of your aquarium, though, as I do not know the specs of the aqua2 you are referring to. Did you mean Ray II 2'? The LED spread is ~120 degrees so I'd venture to say though there is no fixture on either 1' side of the tank if you were to go with a single 4' fixture, there still may be ample light reaching those corners (keeping in mind that taller plants will surely create a further void as they are blocking the light from such a small source).
Here's a pic of it on a 24" deep tank. As you can see there's quite of bit of spread spill:

Thanks for the help. I was referring to the Aqua Ray II 2 (48"). Looks like I will start with the 48" one first.

With the newer 36 and 48 inch models, which are you recommending for freshwater usage? I have the smaller units that are marked DD. Could you explain the different units: DD, DB, DS and BB?
Thanks in advance! By the way, I love my Ray II's. |

DD - 7000k/10000k
DS - 7000k/7000k DB - 10000k/Actinic BB - Actinic Both DD and DS are suitable for your freshwater application. The DD was first introduced and some requested less blue in their light, hence us making the full 7000k fixture in the DS. Hope this helps! |
