Just got a 210g

Last thursday, I saw a 210g for $200 on craigslist. I knew that if I didn't jump on it, it would be gone. Sent a text message, and asked about it, etc, but I didn't have any money and my parents paycheck wasn't coming in. We had thought the check had gotten lost in the mail. As it turns out, it came on Monday, and on a whim, I sent a text to the lady asking if she still had it. SHE DID.

Went down to bakersfield today and picked it up.

THIS THING IS HUGE.

Its 7'x2'x2'.

Anyways, I had a pretty freakin' awesome day, today.

Just had to anti-rant.

Pictures to come tomorrow.

Oh, and I need ideas. I was thinking geophagus biotope. Yes? Gimme what you got. What would you do?

Congrats Caton! It's going to cost a lot of money to get that beast up and running with the proper equipment. I hope you have some sort of plan.

A geophagus biotope sounds cool.

I wouldn't try planting this beast too heavily... It could turn into a nightmare quickly.

I do have a plan! Its going to be low-tech obviously. I think I have it planned where it will only cost around $500 at first. Going to use a 55g sump, its not drilled, so I am going to use overflows. I am going to start low-tech then slowly add on. Get co2, then high light, etc. Within a year it should be epic. :P

Did it come with a stand too? If so that's REALLY a steal!

Sweet. Recently, that second digit has been the most important kicker for my next tank. 2' is very nice... very nice...

Nope. But I can build my own for around $100, if not cheaper. I do want to spend a decent amount of effort into the stand though. Without it, the aquarium could break

Two saw horses and some spray foam and you'll be set.

I was thinking possible dennisonii barbs, some large pleco, african butterfly fish maybe. The stocking list is still in the works. I am also considering a giant iwagumi tank that uses riccia, hygros, and ludwigia. Its so large, background plants can be used as foreground, lol. If I go iwagumi, altum angels, WCMM, cories, and who knows what else.

If you put altums in with white clouds you will not see the white clouds for very long as they will end up being food. I really would recommend not going for the altums until you get a little more experience as these fish are not a fish for beginners and even experienced hobbyists have a hard time with them. There are other varieties of angels that look similar to altums without all the headaches and patience needed for the altums. People need to remember that altums are wild caught fish and most of these fish end up dying as a result of inexperienced people trying to keep them.

I've missed on 3 of them in the last year or so good find and at a steal of a price. I'll be in the 200g+ club sooner or later.

Looking at buying a custom tank in February if I can't find something 200+ in the mean time thinking 7x3x2 (approx 270g). Have the perfect spot in the basment for it.

geo biotope sounds cool

but me being me, I would sooooooo want to do an epic "monster" planted tank with a few bichirs, a gar or two, and a clown knife and whatever else you think is cool
plant it like god knows what with call and cambodia and hygros and maybe a sword or something, just a go big or go home kinda tank lol

or, do a native tank with the gars and then maybe a few sunfish, and a ton of plants found natively throughout the area, I know gals and hornwort come to mind. and I can't help but think go how epic it was when I saw footage of wild gars swimming beneath a carpet of hornwort

or, do something with tons of smaller fish that will look pretty

this tank is going to look amazing no matter what you do with it
