Anyone have this tank?
http://www.amazon.com/Marina-CUBUS-G...d=UE2DZQZRLTCF
I'm tempted to set it up as a tiny low-tech iwagumi with glosso or HC as the only plant, but I'm wondering if that light is enough to grow anything? |

go to walmart and buy the 5 gallon kit with the Aqua tech filter (its made by marineland). Great little glass tank. I'm using it to house my FRS. Its $27 dollars u.s. Great deal. 5 gallons will be much easier to keep clean and its glass not plastic. With cheap plastic tanks i noticed the plastic will discolor and turn cloudy.

I think this tank IS glass, that's why I like it :P I have 3 acrylic tanks already and they scratch if you look at them the wrong way so I feel ya.

The should change the name, there is an understandably large amount of hate on Amazon for it being themed for betta keeping. BUT
Marina CUBUS Glass SHRIMP Kit is viable. you can make this cube a walstad shrimp (cubed) bowl. It does specify that it is glass sad that it was marketed for betta keeping |

I have this tank. The light is useless but the silicone is nice and the glass is lined up very well.

Yup, I was basically planning to make it a square shrimp bowl. I just love the way it looks and tiny glass tanks seem VERY hard to come by. Agreed it's WAY too small to be called a betta tank, my betta is in a 6.6 gallon and that seems about right. Bummer about the light, I was hoping to take a stab at growing HC in this thing.

I can't find the 2.5 fluval spec online anywhere, is that different from the vertical 2 gallon fluval spec?

Thats the one I'm talking about. The fluval spec V is a 5 gallon horizontal if you don't want a vertical rectangular shape

Here's an inexpensive 2.5g glass tank. A little odd looking (to me), but some may like the modern look of it. http://www.amazon.com/Aquatic-Suppli...keywords=glass

Funny, I actually LOVE that 2.5 gallon Penn Plax tank. It's on my list once I get sick of my plastic 2.5 gallon MiniBows at work. For this one though I really do need something very tiny. It's tentatively going in my living room on an end table between two couches and a one gallon can't do too much damage if knocked over. I thought about doing a shrimp bowl but the lack of cover sketches me out.
I guess I could just do a moss iwagumi instead of the HC with that little dim light? |

You can find this tank at Petsmart for the same price, and it's often on sale. It is glass and the seems are not all that bad either, no Mr. Aqua, much less ADA.
I have always wanted one to just have. I haven't looked very hard but have not found much info on the light. I really don't want it enough to buy another light or do my own LED light as I wouldn't want to invest a lot if I bought one personally. I could use a desk lamp but I just like how it is small and simple. Definitely post if you find the light can grow a carpet, I am thinking "no" but you never know.
