i cut hole in the bottom of a fish net so i can feed my discus that way instead of dumping the food in the tank and having it sink to the bottom...

my discus were ripping up my hc eating the food off the bottom and "fighting" over it... so this way they peck at the net and some food falls out and they eat it before it gets to the bottom of the tank

Nice setup and mind boggling loop system. Very coo!! I am looking at possibly building a sump myself for my 125. Questions...What size tank did you use for the sump? What bio material. Any chance of more pictures of sump working.

Any tips or words of wisdom?

i have a 20 gal sump on it right now i am using a filter sock on the intake into the sump and just some ceramic rings in 1 of the slots i will get some more pics of the sump soon..

i am also in the midst of upgrading my sump and building one out of a 38 gal tank... the evaporation top offs in the sump are bugging me so if i can get a larger volume sump it wont be as frequent. im going to pvc connection from the first chamber to the second on the new sump so when i do my waterchanges i can just turn a ball valve and drain the first chamber.... this is important as getting the siphon started is annoying if the sumps first chamber is full of water

update:

i have had my new sump in for a while now... i did not do the pvc connection as stated before... it would just have been too much work...

also when i get my tank full enough i figured out the siphon starts automatically due to head pressure...

the sump is a 38 gal tank and it is a pita to get my arm into it to work on it(my stand is not high enough and barely fits my arm between the top of the sump and top of the stand...

im currently injecting co2 into a reactor now, made from 4" pvc, and everything seems good so far... i just installed the reactor monday we will see the difference in growth...

oh yea i also built a new light and am currently using 3 80watt t5ho bulbs being overdriven by an icecap ballast. Individual tek 2 reflectors... this thing is bright

2 week progression

have been battling some rhizoclonium on my hc... anysuggestions are welcome! anywho.. the tank is starting to look much better as the plants have started to thicken in... also on a side note the undersides of my l aromatica are actually purple this time around! i dont know what could be changing this except for the light situation ever since my lighting increase it has grown in with the nice purple undersides... i can not for sure pinpoint that variable as the cause but regardless im pretty excited to see it putting off some color

little update: the rhizoclonium has gone away... i have had a trim and replant as of last tuesday
