Obstructed flow?
In my 10g I'm still slowly setting up I have one layout I seem to be favoring which is a larger rock to the left, right in front of my intake from my HOB.
In the following pic you can see that my large rock is basically isolating my back corner where the intake tube for the HOB is located. Would this be bad for flow or would it be good to suck up the 'stagnant' water. The HOB is around 500l/h I think so it's way too big for this tank. It will be probably less than half the full flow setting. Attachment 50285 If I just don't plant much there then it shouldnt really make much difference anyway? Thoughts? |

Unless the rock is exactly the right shape to seal or almost seal against the glass it will not block the flow to the point of slowing the water movement.
If the rock is pretty tight then there might be quite a force in those few gaps where the water does flow. Your picture shows plenty of room between the rock and the glass. There ought to be no problem. On the other hand, if you wanted to use that sort of placement to slow the filter, no, that won't do it. |

No water restriction at all there. I often use wood or rock to try to hide the intakes. It takes a really good fit to stop water.
