New Fluval 105 Filter

So I just started my Fluval 105, and it's much more powerful than I expected. The outflow is GUSHING, so much that it's uprooting all of my HC patches in the area. The canister is also very loud. Is this normal for the filter? Is there any way to decrease the flow?

All filters are usually loud at first because air gets trapped in them. With the Fluval canisters there should be two levers on top of the filter. The smaller one can be moved up or down to set the flow.
