max mix co2 reactor

So I while ago I saw people where trying the max mix co2 reactor, so I bought one. I just set it up on my 90g last night and it is leaking from the hose connetions. I have it connected to a rena xp3. I used the hose adaptors and then placed hose clamps on for added security. Without question it is leaking from one if not both of those connections. What have people done to prevent this? I just put my atomic on for now. I really like the max mix for the six hours it was running, but don't know if there is a way to use it. Thanks

Which hose connection? Mine leaked for about a week from the water output area until the water formed a seal of dried up water. It wasn't leaking a lot of water though. I placed a hand towel under it to absorb it and it was fine. I think I changed it out once. I hqvent had a problem since and I've re-plumbed it since I originally set it up.

definitely leaking where filter connects into the reactor and possibly where reactor goes to the tank. I won't run it if it leaks.

Mine leaked until I installed the hose clamps and tightened them sufficiently. Also check the end cap on the bottom - it can loosen during installation and leak a bit. Hand-tight is enough.

the bottom is definitely tight enough. I used hose clamps as well, guess they needed to be tighter. I was afraid of cracking the plastic

don't use the elbow connection that come with the reactor. If you do a search a lot of people have problem with leak with the elbow

I only have used the max mix and don't know anyone with an atomic. I just like the look of as little equipment inside the tank as possible.

Is there still an issue with leaking?

Right now I am not having any issues with leaks, but i am still using the atomic. Little nervous to try the max mix again.

Hi Mcaqautic,

Mine did not leak, I used the elbow no problem, I used ties to tighten the pipe around the outlet and inlet.

I have read that some people have used Vaseline others KY Jelly around the plastic connections/elbow to prevent leaks.

I have had fantastic results using the mix max reactor.

All the best, it is a good piece of kit.

How much noise does the mix max produce? Louder than a standard glass diffuser's bubbles?

for the few hours i ran mine it was pretty much silent.

Bobby do you have the mix max under or at the same level of the canister filter? does that cause any problems?

I have mine hooked up to an XP3. I used vasoline between adapter and reactor and between adapter and hose. I used hose clamps as well. No leaks.
