I don't see PMs on the main mobile page either but it isn't fully implemented yet (I hope).

It's working now, thanks. Earlier it booted me back to the desktop site when I clicked on it in FF.
Looks like there's a subscribed threads option there too.

Yes, but it still functions like tap a talk. Mobile versions of websites are usually terrible

Um, yeah.
Anyhoo, "subscribed threads" isn't the same as "participated threads". Is there a way to force the latter into the former automatically? Anyone getting ads in the mobile version yet?

The mobile site is currently active but it is a bare-bones implementation. There is no Planted Tank theming yet and has in no way been modified to include features that will be required. If you visit the website on a mobile device you should be presented with a link at the top to switch to the mobile website.
For those that are claiming I'm making up the security risks as a guise to add advertisements you are sorely misinformed. TapATalk already has the option for us to add advertisements. It is correct that there are no known security risks with the latest version of TapATalk but there have been numerous security exploits discovered in the past that required us to upgrade multiple times. Like all software there will always be risks and we are simply minimizing our risks be decreasing our reliance on third party software.

In my opinion, this is just TPT not keeping up with the times. There are thousands of other forums out there that use tapatalk and users have no problems. Citing "security flaws" seems sketchy. I think there is just not enough technical know-how coupled with one of the administrator's unlucky experience. There are always "risks" in everything, mobile sites included. Heck, if you wanted absolute security and privacy, I say get off the Internet, close down your bank accounts and credit cards and start hoarding cash and gold under the mattress. Then start building the moat and walls around your property.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with your restrictions on this site and Tapatalk not being able to enforce them. One thing I noticed on Tapatalk is I could bump my sales thread before the 24 hour rule. I never said anything before because I didn't want to cause waves. Now that it's going away, I guess it's a mod point.
Pretty bummed about the decision, I use tapatalk all the time. I hope the mobile version is good or you will be seeing a lot less traffic from me as well. The only time I'm in front of a computer anymore is at work. At home and on the go, it's all mobile now.

While I purchased tat for the sole usage of this thread, this change will nicely solve the URL in email problem.
Having supported infrastructure before, I can appreciate the impacts of sudden emergency security patching. It also causes problems when a security fix has rippling effects requiring many more pieces of software to be updated. I've had instances where a "fix" was worse than the underlying problem. I fully support Kyle and whatever comes out of this. I'll miss tapatalk, but look forward to the evolution of the mobile theme. |
