Refugium on a 10 gallon planted shrimp tank

Hi I just ordered a Finnex Refugium/Fudgeray combo

http://www.finnex.net/index.php?opti...hk=1&Itemid=61

I have a 10 gallon tank, its a resun bowfront rimless model. It is currently powered by a Eheim 2211 and a Aquaclear 10 and has a fluval 88g co2 system in place.

I was wondering if I can put the fluval 88g co2 in the refugium and have it pour co2 laden water into my main tank.

I was wondering if putting a small sponge filter in the refugium would help at all or if it would interfere with the co2 dispencemen.

Also I ordered 3 4x4" pads with Fissidens fontanus on them, would these be suitable for use in a refugium ?

Thanks you !

The flow in those boxes is very minimal and I would think that the co2 bubbles would reach the surface a lot faster since it's a short distance from the diffuser to the water surface and would lead to very inefficient diffusion.

Interesting concept. Like a mini hang on the back Cerges reactor? Would the bubble rate for CO2 be high enough to create the flow you typically need through these without being wasteful of your CO2?

My bubble counter is 1 bubble per 6 seconds, any more then that and my shrimp start swimming to the top and act weird.

I was doing more research and I was thinking of loading of the refugium with freshwater clams, moss or moss covered bamboo charcoal, and duckweed/frogbit/water hycanith to filter the water.

Anyone have any suggestions for plants or animals that filter the water or provide anything beneficial to the aquarium ?

Thanks !

Also if I hook it up so the water from the refugium is forced down a tube to the bottom of the 10 gallon tank, would then co2 be viable ?

Hey guys. Got word that we'll be getting a pump +adapter for the boxes very soon. Pre-order going on now, here: http://www.finnex.net/index.php?opti...hk=1&Itemid=61
