Marineland LED Double Bright 48" light for 55gallon
Greetings,
Starting up a 55 gallon aquarium and recently purchased this LED light for it. Is it too little or too much light ? I read in a few places that too much light would grow a lot of algae. What do you guys think ? |

how tall is your tank?
pretty sure its low light, med. if your lucky the algae is cause by the blue antic leds or "moonlights" I get plenty of algae because of it |

The tank is 22 inches tall. Ok so no moonlights at night then. How would you calculate watts per gallon with an LED light ?

Obsessed? Maybe

There's PAR data (refer to the Lighting Stickies for details about PAR) available on Marineland's website. According to their data, this fixture provides roughly 40ish micromols of PAR at 21/22 inches. That would put you in low light.
The blue moon lights do not cause algae, that's some unfortunate misinformation. There are tons of low light plants you'll be able to easily grow.
