Found a treat this morning!

Taking the garbage out this morning and found a night crawler heading across the yard... So I immediately thought oooh fish food!

So much to my wifes disgust chopped it up into manageable chunks and dropped in the tank... Have never seen my loach or discus go that ballistic over any food! may have to start some live food cultures...

The other day I found a cooler filled with rainwater, and tons of mosquito larva.
So I grabbed my net and nabbed as many as I could, threw them in my guppy tank, It was instant chaos.
They were stealing the larva out of each others mouths, I had to separately feed my betta, because the guppies were just on a feeding frenzy.

Lucky... I've been trying to get any of my containers of water outside to get any sort of mosquito larvae. For months now..
No such luck.

I have never been able to bring myself to chop an earth worm. I get nauseated walking to my car after it rains cause I swear I can smell the worms. I did let my son drop a tiny one I saw in for my angels once and it was gone instantly.

Are mosquito larva safe or could the diseases they carry hurt fish? Any water left standing here gets mosquito larva pretty quickly.

Referring to what disease? mosquito born diseases are the result of them feeding on a affected animal, I could be wrong but the larvae should be a OK

I don't think that any land species can infect a fish. But I have been wrong before.
