Humic and Stainless Steel Filter questions.

I'm going to be adding some humic to slowly adjust my pH downwards. What would be a good first dose for a 10g? I was thinking half dose then full in the next week or other week.

Also, has anyone with an AquaClear 20 measured to see what stainless steel filter to put on the hangy downy bit? What point would I measure it at? The widest? I've heard 12mm, 13, 14, 20...

I have the whole container of Humic in my 20 gallon. Half a container in each aquaclear filter that I run on that tank.

Not sure about hummic. But as for a SS prefilter the perfect size would be 14mm. You can buy a 13mm and mod it easily to fit though.

I actually got out a ruler and measured the intakes of the AC 20, 30 and 50. They are 16mm exactly. I measured the middle part, not the actual intake part at the bottom nor the top part that is wider and attaches to the U-shaped tube into the filter.

I don't know anything about humic, though.

Hmmm. Can they be tightened if they're too big?

And I'll work out the Humic dose I guess. I just didn't want to adjust downward too quickly, as I have scrimps.

Some one tell me where they are measuring at the bottom near where the factory pre filter is or where the bottom tube connects to the part that comes out of the filter ( the one with the flow adjustment tab on it.

I measured the middle of the tube.

oh oh I can officially and definitively answer this.
I took a chance and ordered 2 of the 16 MM filters from a seller here on the boards.

They fit perfectly over my AC 30s. So the answer is for AC you want the 16mm.
