My Gold Powdered Blue Rams.

http://www.flowerhorncraze.com/topic..._fromsearch__1

Here are some of my Gold Powder Blue Rams i got in about 2 weeks ago. I have been doing massive water changes and feeding them alot to up their spawn sizes. They have litterally doubled in size since i got them 2 weeks ago and they show no signs of slowing down in growth. They are about 2 and a half months old and what makes this very unusual is that i have never had rams this big at this young of age. Alot of it is do to my filtration design which utilizes algae as a primary filtering agent. I also have a new liver paste mixture i use to feed. As of now i have free swimming fry from the 3 males and 5 females i have in the tank. More free swimming fry are on the way. I will be offering these little dudes for sale in about 3 months.

Massive water changes and heavy feeding is the only good way to raise quality cichlids.

Cichlids are amazing in that regard, they always grow very fast when given the right situation. High protein food often, Large water changes 1-2 daily and viola! Nice looking fish!!

Massive water changes are only necessary if a parameter is too high.

i have found that fatty foods are especially valuable for accelerated dwarf cichlid growth, when the fry are big enough, i incorporate cyclopeeze and tubifex worms into their diets as protein helps with tissue development, fats fuel the growth!

they look great! Rams are ludicrous growers due to their near annual lifestyle in the wild.

Gorgeous fish! I need to setup a medium size grow out tank that I can do daily water changes on.

would you be willing to share your filtration setup, have my curiosity piqued

Massive water changes are benificial period. The cleaner the water the better the fish.

Yes rams already grow good. They have a short life cycle so they have to grow fast. However i have bred rams for about 14 years now... these that i have now have grown faster than any i have seen. I think its do to the new type of food i have made as well as my new filtration design. Massive water changes help too!

Indeed! These are even growing faster than my other rams i have kept in the last 14 years. I have always done good water changes and fed alot but i think with these rams it has been a combination of alot of water changes, large feedings of the new type of food i have developed, and my filtration system that utilizes algae!
