Sick or not sick?
So this may be the total noob coming out or I could really have a problem. I didn't notice it at first but I wondering if my shrimp are sick. I have noticed that some of the shrimp are a little milky in color and that some of them have black spots. But I have also noticed that many other people who post pictures of their shrimp have the same black spots and that others say that either the males or females are a little more milky.
(This is my first time posting pics) These two pics are the ones with the black spots. its just behind their eyes. ![]() ![]() These are 2 of my females ![]() ![]() Some one please tell me I am over reacting. Sorry for the crappy cell pics. |

My rilis are a bit milky at times. Who knows, if they're swimmin around I'd say they're ok. Uhh you might want to make bigger pics so we can actually see the shrimp up close

Just from lookin and guessing, i'd say your shrimp are juvies that are getting saddled for the first time. and you'll know shortly who the boys are, and who's the girlies.

My Juvenile Rili's look the same. The new females (mine are at an age where u can see difference bet.male and female)
have not berried even once. The males show milky color at times coz they're lighter in color, smaller phyically compared to females. Your shrimps look fine to me. Try to photograph single shrimp closer as much as possible. Even mine are Milky sometimes may be due to temp.rise. During noon the temp.goes upto to 26 degrees. If your shrimp are acting weird, show signs like not interested in food, hiding, struggling to walk or dragging themselves thru the tank, etc. then u should be worried. Anyways if they have enough biofilm in the tank feed the just twice a week. |

Thanks guys. Sorry about the small pics. I tried for half an hour to make them bigger and gave up. Unlike the rest of my generation, computer knowledge does not come easily to me.
These shrimp are still pretty small. I got them from jimko. Some are way smaller than others. So I know they have some growing. And believe it or not I did zoom in on some of the shrimp. I know some of the females have saddles but i figured all the other ones were male. Maybe they are saddles developing. It's nice to know some other ppl have some milky shrimp. One more question. Are rili shrimp suppose to be the size of cherry shrimp? I have one male cherry in the tank and he is soooo much bigger than all my rili shrimp. He's bigger than my females and way bigger than my males. |
