biofilm on manzanita wood? what to do? is it bad?
hey everyone,
this morning, i noticed some biofilm on my manzanita wood. its like a opaque almost gel-like clear white stuff on the wood itself. almost like vaseline but not as viscous. is this ok? i dont have any snails or such and im not sure if my fish will eat it. will it just go away in time? i soaked my manzanita twice before putting it into my tank. thanks

Yeah its a common problem, or rather its not a problem, it will go away in time, and it doesnt seem to hurt anything in the tank.

It's what I call driftwood snot. LOL! Harmless and common. Otos and amanos will eat it. It will go away in time.

Drifwood snot is a good name for it. It's bacterial biofilm.

Remove it if it gets to be too much, but a little bit is not a problem, it will go away.
