Pros and cons of plop and drop have already been discussed.

The con to acclimating is that the shrimp are in the same little water they were shipped in for an even longer time period. This water contains ammonia and other things. Some people have had deaths from too long an acclimation and staying in the fouled water, however the prevailing attitude a majority of people have (especially with crs which is a more sensitive shrimp) is to slowly acclimate to cause less issues.

Then the sub-discussion that remains from acclimation is how long is appropriate for dripping. Once again, different opinions from different folks.
Yeah definitely right about the fouled water. I like to add a few drops of prime to the bag water :3

Colorful, good one for getting your water tested

At least you know what the problem is now. Hopefully you can get that PH down soon and then get your shrimps. Can you invest in a new mini master test kit?

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go to my LFS and pick up one today.

Anyone know a good way to lower ph ?

Lower pH with peat in the filter, IALs in the tank, new DW or use a buffering substrate.

What test did the LFS use? I only trust API kits.

They used API freshwater master test kit.

Could I use RO water for my water changes? Would that lower my ph? And, would I have to add any minerals to the RO water?
