Upstate NY

Hello! I'll be up in upstate by one finger lake next week, visiting family. Any stores in Rochester? I'll be in Livonia.

Upstate selection is usually really poor. Though there's a store in Buffalo that's better than all the rest. Bought some rilis, bees, and crs at fair prices....

But Buffalo's a wayyy while from Rochester. Google map the area and see. I don't consider upstate NY as NY lol.....it's barren out there.

rochester has a few stores in the irondequoit/greece area i believe. and by few i mean 2 that i know of off the top of my head. the ones i recall are mainly saltwater shops. i think they are caribbean forest and the reefe shoppe. freshwater im not sure, i think ABC pet city is one. my girlfriend lives there and she goes to the freshwater shop. if anything yelp always helps

Hehe no problem. Freshwater shrimp hasn't caught on yet in most of NY, cept NYC.

ABC pet city in Fairport is great, a tad pricey but it's family run, they know their stuff and are always helpful. Another option is Pet World in either the Fairport/Perinton area, or Petworld/AquaShoppe in Greece. Those are really the only independent freshwater stores here. As mentioned, there are two nice salty stores as well. The store in Buffalo is called "Fish Place" and to be honest, looks really run down from the outside and isn't in an "excellent" neighborhood. But inside, it's wall to wall tanks and they have tons of fish and a good plant selection as well.

Yeah fish place looks ghetto as hell, but pretty nice inside. Best I've seen in NY actually. Fairport....the land of lax bros xD

the fish place in buffalo is good but it can't compete with what is here in san francisco. though i guess because buffalo is more landlocked than SF, it has less "shipment ability"
anyhow moosenart, i hope you enjoy your trip to upstate NY. it is hot there right now apparently.
