Monster in shrimp tank.

I have a 55 gal. red cherry shrimp tank and everything has been going fine for months. But lately I don't see many berried shrimp, don't see any moltings and no baby shrimp all over the place like I used to.And Iv'e been finding more dead shrimp every day. My ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate all test good. So today, like always I'm checking things out and I see this creepy thing on the bottom of the tank.I'm looking at it,it's the color of my shrimp but with a big white abdomen, and all these tentacles on it. I grabbed a forceps and pulled it out, it was dead. To me it's a big spider about 3/4 of a inch long, the creepyist thing I ever saw. Except for the big white abdomen it is the color of my shrimp. I put it in some aquarium water and froze it.I'd post a picture but I'm not quite that computer savvy yet. What the heck did I find? Has anybody ever heard of anything like this? Jimbo.

Uh... sounds like a half-eaten dead shrimp to me... to be honest. Or a molt.

It's going to take a while to post a picture, I'll have to get my son to show me how to do that. I pulled it out of the freezer to show him ,and he kinda freaked out. He said it looked like a brown recluse with those big fangs on it, except it's the color of the shrimp. It is a spider of some sort not a dead shrimp.I want to thing it's the reason for my shrimp deaths, but to be honest I think it's probably some creepy spider that fell into my tank. If you ever saw the movie Alien, it looks like that thing that would jump out and stick to your face. I think I'm going to have bad dreams tonight! Jimbo.

Sure it's not a dragonfly nymph or something of the sorts?

Nymph would definitely explain why all your shrimp dissapeared. But I wonder why it died...

from the article kiran posted: "Nymphs develop in the water, but when it gets to its mid stage it comes out of the water."
maybe it got to that stage and drowned?

It Is A spider,my son said that tomorow he could help me post a picture. The bottom line is that what ever it is,I want to blame it for my shrimp deaths. Maybe I'm overfeeding but whatever this thing is CREEPY. Jimbo.

If it was some kind of poisonous spider, maybe it fell in the tank, died, and leeched all its poison into the water killing the shrimp in the process.
