When I first got this tank I wanted just to have leds. I gave up on the idea. While I was on vacation I was doing some research on leds again. So Friday I ordered the Marineland aquatic plant led 2 sets of the 24-36. Had to have two for distance of the tank.
I just got back and the lights where allready here. 1 day shipping that I didn't pay for. Here's some pics.

I think you are the first person on this forum, that has those lights in hand (that i can tell, anyway). Lets hope they do well!

Thinned out and rescaped. Have pic of top of tank with lights on. I'm also thinking of changing background. Either going to a mirror or solid color. Haven't decided yet.

Nice tank.
Which LED light is that? the PAR seems pretty strong and good for planted tank.

Thanks ,they are marineland aquatic plant led. I like them a lot better than the previous setup. The timer is simple to use I just don't like how it resets to factory standards if you lose power.

I think if you added some pcd's it would really accent your tank.I know a guy that can help you with that. Gotchya.

Congrats on the new lights, tank looks good, I agree the background should be changed. I am partial to a solid black, but blues and mirror finishes don't look bad.

Is your choice preference of a black background of personal preference or do you fine an advantage verses a blue or a mirrored ?

I like black for the depth it gives, but a mirror will make it look much deeper. I had a tank growing up that was kept in front of a mirror and the depth was phenomenal, unfortunately the filter was also visible. If you can get a mirror on the back then it is quite crazy.

Thank you ,that's a very good explanation. Next chance I get I think I'm going to try some mylar and see how that looks. If I don't like the way it looks I'll try a black background.

Easy to see comparison. The leaf on the right is new growth under my LEDs (7 days). This is my St Elmos Fire. The colors are actually a deep purple with spots of white and white. My picture doesn't due it justice.
My Blyxa Is also turning from a bright green to a golden red tint. On a sad note my crypts did not handle the change of light intensity. My Flag fish pulled a couple up ,picking on the algae starting to form on the leaves. Taking a close look at the crypts I could see the roots melted and a hard bumpy type algae was starting to form on the leaves. I could only remove with my finger nails. I pulled a crypt out that was still in the gravel it was the same way than I pulled the rest out all the same. Luckily I have the sunsets and parva in my sons tank that are doing great. When they can be split I'll transfer some into my tank. I also did a close inspection of the rest of the plants and couldnt see any more of this algea. I did start a dosing schedule of excell that I'm going to do for a week so hopefully I don't start seeing this algae start to appear. I also increased my co2 by .01. With no signs of distress from my fish.
