Dosing Iron Chelate Dry

I have some iron chelate 13%. Was wondering if anyone doses this dry. If so whats the amount that you use?

If thats not the case does anyone have a good recipe for a 500ml bottle?

so im getting 582 mg for EI dosing...which converts to...1/10th tsp? Maybe use a 1/8 teaspoon for easy use?

cant convert mg into ml but i looked up a conversion for table salt and just went with that.

any comments on this?

There'a no way to convert from a mass to a volume so you are correct there :-D

You don't mention where you're putting this 582 mg so it's hard to say. ..That would be.582 grams so a bit over half a gram. I would estimate that to be about 1/3 teaspoon, give or take.

dry fert style...ferts dissolved in cup then straight into tank

1/3 teaspoon fe sounds like over dose...for a 40 gallon :O

I mix two tablespoons of dry iron chelate powder in 500 ml of RO water. I dose one ml of iron mixture per 10 gallons of tank water three times a week.

do you keep your solution at room temp? i heard keeping it at room temp = you have to adjust the dosage some how...

i dont plan on putting my iron in the fridge...stuff is poison if someone accidently drinks it

If u store it in room temp its good to add a little excel in it.

I just dose mine dry, makes things a lot more simplified

You can make a smaller amount of mixture so it doesn't stay bottled at room temperature for many months. I have many tanks and a 500 ml bottle only lasts for a month. Whatever oxidation that occurs should be minimal and insignificant for healthy plants in a home setting. It might be significant for large scale commercial nurseries or laboratories.

what ratio do you use when dosing dry? (and your tank size)
