Did you wash the plants first, something on them maybe or did you add the floating plants at the top and they're all up them munching?

I so wanna pet those shrimps. But yeah, it's good to wash them but it could also be they're diggin' the floaters.

Check your water parameters..... Also ask the person you got the plants from if they soaked them in anything before shipping. If from over seas some times they dose with a chemical to kill anything on them.

It's probably best to take action even if you don't know the exact cause. You at least know that adding the plants triggered this behavior and that the behavior is abnormal.

I suggest removing the plants (as best as you can) and doing a water change. See if that will help settle the shrimp.

Then you can try adding the plants again after thoroughly rinsing them; although, I'd suggest waiting a day or two to be sure the shrimp have recovered. When you do add the plants back in, add just a few at a time to make sure everything's okay.

They are trying to escape because of something in the water. I've seen this happen when my water was wacky and when the CO2 was a little too high.

I would take the plants out and wash them and do a good water change just in case.

Might be a ammonia spike from stiring up the substrate. Might throw some prime in just in case, while preping the water

Alot of plant nurseries use algaecides that will kill your shrimp.
