Rainbow cichlid with peacock gudgeon?
Hi I have a 30 gallon heavily planted tank (100% cover) with 6 peacock gudgeons. Will likely lower this to 2 or 4 once they pair off. I'm wanting to add a single rainbow cichlid to this tank.
I know they're both relatively peaceful, but do you guys think they'll get along? I'm also gathering conflicting experiences keeping them with plants. Anyone know? Thanks in advance. |

The cichlid should be fine with the peacocks aside from eating their fry, but plants are another matter altogether. If they aren't on the menu they may be uprooted by the cichlid digging in the substrate, or they may be undisturbed. Generally though, SA or CA cichlids aren't a good idea for a planted tank.
