Is it normal for Pygma chain sword to melt when it's first planted??

Mine did. I originally put in 2 plants, and I don't think one ever came back. the other went nuts, though, and I have it all over now.

Did it have longer leaves and flower looking nodes? Then yes, it was initially grown emersed.

My first guess it's trying to adjust to you water condition. Is your water hard or soft?

Then, how did you plant it? Mine usually have pretty long roots. When I replant it, I cut the roots with sharp scissors to about 1/2" to 1" from the leaves, leaving just enough so that it would stay in the substrate. Plant it a bit deep and then pull the plant so that the base of the roots is just visible above the substrate,

It does like a bit of light, so, I would plant it in the open spot and maybe 1/2" or more apart.

Are all the leaves melting or mostly the outside ones? I would peel the outside melting leaves. A plant with 2-3 leaves will still survive.

That's pretty much my brain dump at the moment.

How are the other plants doing? If some others are doing ok and some others are not, let me know which. That might give us more clues.

And a bit of luck does not hurt either

Hey Oleg, it wasn't from you, I got from a RAOK a few weeks back. I've had them floating in one my tanks cause I wasn't ready to plant them when I got them. I'm thinking they are just getting use to the new tanks that they are in, just wanted warm and fuzzy from the folks here that it's normal. The chain sowrds are pretty much acting like the crypts that I planted three weeks ago and they melted right off the back but have been sprouting up new leaves now.

As for your plants, they have been planted into their new home and I'm just letting them get aclimated. I haven't seen any melting from them so far. I may need to get some nitrate ferts because tanks is basically going through a "fishless cycle" so there basically isn't any fish load feeding aside from the organic soil underneath the gravel.

Adding some fish flake food will feed the plants and the bacteria.
