Cardinal Shrimp tank setup
Have many of y'all had any luck with cardinal shrimp tanks. I think they look awesome and was just wondering what difficulty level they require and how different they are in keeping compared to other shrimp.

They are the easiest of the sulawesi shrimp, in my opinion. I kept them a few years back, when they first entered the hobby. I was able to keep and breed them with a very simple set-up that I created overnight.
Crushed coral at the bottom of the tank, a thin layer. Sand on top, about 2 inches. Some random rocks I collected at a nearby creek. One sponge filter One heater set at 80-82F Add tap water Purigen bag (I added purigen because I literally set this tank up the night before they arrived) My tap comes out 7.6 ph, I'm sure the corals must've raised it a bit. I never tested for anything else. I found my tap to be perfect for em and the one thing to be aware of is temp. I don't let my temp drop below 80. My heater malfunctioned before and my tank hit 90F, they were perfectly fine still. I didn't catch the malfunction till after a day or two, I think. They can withstand a lot of heat! I wouldn't recommend keeping it past 85 though...

Thanks for all the helpful information. I will use it wisely. How many would make a good starter colony for a 10 gallon I'm planning on eventually getting going? Where is best place to get some of these critters too? It will be a while on getting the tank set up though

My water out of the tap in socal is: GH - 11 pH - 7.8 (lowers to about 7.6 in my the tank) Im doing more research on them but I can't wait to get some |
