Local hardware store is heaven for DIY project. Stroll around and gather up ideas.

I'm sure you'll be able to find/build something that will look way better then most product that you can buy.

Good luck man!!

All the way from Hawaii.
Aloha
hey, you talking about city mill? I'm not keen on bussing all the way to iwilei and back with 10ft of metal pipe.
(all the way... far i guess in island terms... lol, but still)

audioaficionado: you can get from n. shore to town in 45 min?? What the heck? You mainlanders must drive so fast.

Wanna swap? Hawaii is to small. The island is getting a bit boring. Plus shipping is a pain in the wallet!!!
I would totally swap with you, but i'm a computer science major about to transfer to the university of washington. The university of hawaii doesn't have a very good CS or engineering program, they're all about the marine biology (winder why?). Give me two years and this place is all yours.

Hell i like snow more than constant overcast and rain. It's depressing. When it's all cold and snowy out i get to go skiing, yay. When it's rainy out i get to...suffer through traffic in raingear on my motorcycle. In one of the worst traffic areas on the west coast.

I'm not completely full of complaints, Seattle is very beautiful. We have some of the most beautiful summers in the country, and i've been to almost every state. And in the summer time the outdoor activities available here are endless, so many beautiful hiking/camping/fishing/rafting/climbing places.

But like i said, that's for maybe 30 days out of the year. Gets old fast when you've lived like this most of your life. I miss my year of sunshine in LA.

Seattle is a nice place to visit, but too crowded to live there. Bellingham, WA on the other hand would be a nice place to live. Plenty of snow up in the nearby mountains if the valleys get too damp for you.

I will note that you can probably make something better for about 10 bucks with a pipe bender. Might even be able to find a ship that will bend some conduit to your specifications for way cheaper then $50 bucks, then just screw it to your stand.

Here's another option:

½" conduit + 90° bend
Since I probably won't need the whole 10 feet of the pipe. How would I go about cutting it? Can they cut it for me at home depot?

Using a hacksaw would make it look like a hack job. Use tubing cutter. Ask where you buy the EMT tubing if they can bend it for you or let you borrow a bender.

well if you used the hacksaw with a fine tooth blade you could just clean it up with some sand paper or something, it would come out fine. A hacksaw is something many people already have. By tubing cutter do you mean like a pipe cutter for plumbing?

The ones in the plumbing section work fine and they're not very expensive.
