Hi, anyone have experience with them? My LFS has them and I'm really interested, but I don't grow alot of algae in my tank so am wondering if they can live successfully with Hikari Algae Wafers? Is a single male ok or should I have a male & 2 females?

I wonder what Stiphodons you've seen in the store close to you and at what prices. Under what specific name they arrived and from what wholesaler - would you please ask them those questions - I'm interested in Stiphodons and have at least a dozen and a half and I'm still interested in others, but some seem to be more pricer then...gold, and I'm not an investor.

It is good to have pairs. Mainly for displays of the males in the presence of a female of the species. There are no reports of successful raising of the fry beyond a few days, but all this you will find on the pages I forementioned.

I've kept some and they are pretty cool, I didn't need much algae as these turned out to like baby shrimps more than any algae.

Thanks for the link! My LFS says they're just styphodon sp. they're $12.99 my cost and from the link you gave me they look like atropurpureus I'll be picking up a few & see how they do

S.atropurpureus is on my list. I wish I knew the name of the wholesaler they deal with...

And the retail price is a modest one!
