I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting my CO2 bubble rate set. I DO have a PH controller coming soon.
I get it set to the rate I want, leave for a few hours and come back to see that it's sped up or slowed down. Is this normal? Also, I've been letting the CO2 run at pretty high levels to boost the plant growth before I get fish, but I haven't seen a lot of pearling. Areas where the plants are cut are bubbling like crazy, but not much other than that. Could it be because the plants are only still adjusting to the new tank or is too much CO2 bad?

Do you know what your CO2 levels are? Are you adding other fertilizers? How much light do you have? We need to ask more questions before we can give answers.
What kind of reactor are you using? |

I found that my bubble rate would fluctuate when I used too low of a setting on the adjustable pressure regulator. When I went from under 20 psi to a full 30psi, the bubble rate remained far more constant after being set.
(I'm using a beverage factory dual gauge regulator and a Clippard needle valve, btw.) And to echo what James and Rex have said - I was disappointed to see very little pearling when I switched to HP CO2. Only when I started dosing Stump Remover (KNO3) and Fleet Enema (PO4) twice a week did I see major pearling and weedlike growth.

I use a pH monitor from milwaukee. The bubble rate is quite high...on the order of 1-1.5 per sec. I have the controller set to pH of 6.8...it starts and stops as advertised....a 4-5 bubble rate per min which some people say just does not put the CO2 into solution like some guys state.
