Any help ID'ing these plants is greatly appreciated! Only ones I know are the Alternanthera and the hairgrass.

I love native tanks. Be following along to see where you go with this one.

No fish as of yet, some of the plants died. The hairgrass, alternanthera, and the un-identfied in plant picture #1 are growing. #2 the rush or whatever are struggling, I think its too deep for them. #'s 4 and 5 are dead. When spring hits and stuff starts growing back I will get more plants. Holding off on fish till the wife allows me to spend some money on it. For now there are a few pond snails in there.

Don't know about were you are, but I've found that some of our native plants require a winter dormancy, and if they don't get it they just gradually decline. Haven't figured out how to incorperate that into an aquarium - yet . As for the fish, have you considered any native minnows?

several of the plants were "wetlands" plants which often don't do well if submerged for long periods of time.

Fish will be Blue spotted sunfish, sawcheek and/or swamp darters and top lined minnows as dither fish

Default Update Time 4/25/12

Time for an update, this tank has evolved a good bit since I first posted pictures. I got impatient and decided to steer away from natives. Some of the plants died and I replaced them with others. I have a pair of Kribs, they have been tending to their first spawn. The fry are about 2 weeks old now. Drawing inspiration from the riparium crew and the Planted HOB thread I added some additional plants in that regard.

Trying to get java moss to grow in the output ramp

Dont know what kind of plant this is, found it at the lake.

New roots!

Looking good, although I'm sorry to see you moving away from the natives.
