I run Zone Alarm Pro and it works quite well. And not all routers come with hardware firewalls. In fact most consumer level inexpensive routers DO NOT have a firewall. Normally a hardware firewall is a dedicated machine. I used to run a hardware firewall on a Linux box that was also the gateway for my home network. I have since upgraded my ISP account and no longer trying to connect three computers though one static IP address.

I was running ZA Pro up until about a year ago. I got another DSL modem with a built-in Firewall and for 3 months absolutely nothing came thru. I finally uninstalled ZA because it was redundant.

On another note, last week I just finished installing WinXP on a computer and brought it up on the network to do the Windows updates and the second it booted to the desktop -BLAM- hit by the blaster worm. Whata way for a new install to begin life.
