Frustrated in Ontario

Fwiw, I'm just getting started with a planted tank, but I have wanted one for decades. I haven't actually cleaned the tank yet.. got it used from a store going out of business, so it was dirt cheap, which was nice. Got a hood for it, haven't looked to see what bulb it came with, but I don't mind a bit of DIY if it turns out to be a useless bulb. One thing I've noticed, while I was looking for used tanks, is there are some ads on Kajiji from folks in the GTA mainly, selling plants, cuttings, etc. Haven't looked for CO2 stuff yet, I figure I'll start slowly, my pension only allows for so much expense at a time. But I'm really looking forward to having this tank up and running. Clearly I'm fortunate being in Misssissauga, thus reasonably well located to get to most sources in the GTA. But I really hate having to drive from one side of the GTA to the other, with gas the price it is. I'm becoming fascinated with FW shrimp too, thinking I'd like to have some shrimp in the tank a bit later on too, nice to know we have a source here.

Just a thought to all looking for stuff. Join your local aquarium club. Information is usually awsome, you can trade as well as they usually have auctions. I filled my 100 gallon aquarium with plants from last auction I went to. A member was selling AMAZING plants cheap. Some were attached to driftwood. So don't pass up this idea. Join your local club today
