Any cool LFS's near Whitewater.
Been trying to find some lfs's that have a nice selection of freshwater plants around Madison or Milwaukee. I've been to Living Art in Madison and it's a great lil store but the plant selection is pretty limited. Great for Salwater thought. I've also been to Aquatics Unlimited in Greenfield and Best Fish in Milwaukee.
If ya know of anymore please let me know. I'm in Fort Atkinson. |

Hey there, I cant help you out with stores in your area, but I am from WI as well (North Eastern part) and is always nice to see more fellow WI members on here. I am always willing to trade plants and what not so you never know, maybe we will be doing business someday.

Cool man. I'm actually new to this and am just finishing getting everything ready for my first planted tank. Hoping to get it going this week or next and looking for some plants on the main forum. |

Fish Factory in Milwaukee has some days where they are cleaned out, but on average, they usually have about 25 plant species in stock, and on good days, the tanks are packed. I've also seen them sell plants from the non-sale tanks if a regular asks nicely. Then there's Aquatic Displays on 76th and Oklahoma, no plants for sale there, and half the tanks are drained, but there's live plants growing like mad in about 1 of 3 tanks there, which leads to deducing one of the staff is into planted tanks and might be willing to sell/trade. Their fish are also mostly healthy externally and cheap -$4 for a rasbora.

Checked out Fish Factory this week and I wasn't too impressed. What plants they had were ho hum and their livestock was much the same. Seemed like the guys working there were nice though and dealt with clientele pretty well. Went to Hoffers as well and that place is huge, they had tons of nice plants and a ton of fish. Almost overwhelmingly big but nice just the same. Hardware prices were a bit high but the livestock seemed reasonable. Nice store.
Best fish is the next stop. I've been there before but was mainly focused on saltwater so I didn't see much of the freshwater stock. The owner there is super cool there and regardless of thier freshwater stock I'll be back a ton for saltwater and friendly service. |

Hi Kevinmichael,
I live in Whitewater and will be graduating in May, so I will be tearing my tanks down soon. I have three planted tanks that are full of plants and fish and MTS... Are you interested in a certain plant or just browsing? I am hoping to find homes for a large majority of my fish and plants before I leave in May. My fish are: 10 Neon tetras 2 Pearl Gouramis 1 SAE Flying Fox 1 Red Tailed Black Shark (Jaws) 9 Otos 4 Green Emerald Cories 2 Juili Cories 4 Albino (no idea what species) Cories 3 Melanochromis Auratus Cichlids 4 Knight Gobies 200-400 (Seems like 40 billion) MTS (Obiviouly not all in the same tank) I'll post some pictures soon. |
