Well, the only fish that are not eating off the bottom are my hatchets. They chase it on the way down then pout. Rummies, cardinals, roselines, embers, microrasborass, etc are all eating it off the bottom. I took a few more pics (not great quality, but will give you teh idea) from feeding time today. I am feedign this in about 75 tanks right now (usually soilent green or meat pie, sometimes I even mix the two a bit):
blueberry shrimp and assassin snails: bumble bee shrimp ember tetras and pygmaeus yellow shrimp amanos meteor minnows and y. cruciatus roselines otos and S. barbatus |

Most of my mid to top feeders caught on to it right away and started eating it from the bottom regardless of being top flake feeders for the most part. Then ONLY fish that seems to have any trouble catching on at first were my glowlight danios (choprea), but after I dropped the squares in a few times they caught on. I have mid to top fish like glowlight tetras and lampeye tetras as well as normans lampeye killies and verious guppies and endlers that all caught on to feeding from the bottom right away. TBH I like it better that way because they pick at it and swim away for a bit and then come back instead of trying to out eat each other while the flakes are available on the surface.

To coat something (driftwood, etc.) with this food would you use a tiny basting brush or something or if it was something small (like cholla wood) could you dip it in the mixture?

The food comes as a powder. You have to mix it with water and then heat/boil it. The end result is a gel type food.
The mixing is ok. My only hesitation is messing with refrigerated food as the main food on a daily basis. |

This stuff really is great, Rachel - I'll be getting some from you when I finish mine.
Also- for those of you who want it floating.... "painting" it on something that will float works quite well. I just use the bottom of a tupperware container and all my higher water column feeders just pick off of that. |

Does it need to be thawed before feeding or do you just drop it in?

Glad you guys like the idea! Foam would probably work really well too! I just grabbed something I had laying around, but I think I'll try something new next time.
Rachel, I certainly agree with you. I love all the different things that you can do with this stuff! |

They have those "betta logs" or whatever they are, I bet you could easily coat the bottom of those.
Man, I have one of those, now I am going to have to try it! |
