Cleaning old used substrare / Flourite
Well... resetting up my planted tank and of course would like to save a few dollars by re-using my old flourite. Now... shamefully it was left in a semi wet state, uncleaned, for quite some time.... a little white 'fuzz' did get on the surface... and now I am unsure if or how to clean it all up.
I was thinking that when it warms up a bit take the flourite out to the driveway, place a few scoops into a 5 gallon plastic bucket and nail it with 1800 PSI from the pressurevwasher, rinse, repeat, and drain. Then do a few more scoops etc. Till all the Flourite has been cleaned. I am unsure if this will prevent the mold (fuzz) from returning once back in the tank. I thought of cleaning with soap / dish liquid etc.... and then rinsing a lot. Also thought of bleach / Javex as well.... but I would think Flourite is quite porus and feared that I would never in a million years get the residue out of it - and would kill the future fish etc... Any ideas / thoughts / experience folks?

Boil it! once the water starts to roll or bubble there is no life on earth that can live in it.

Just do several rinses with clean water and hand agitate while rinsing. You won't introduce fungus into the tank because it can't grow underwater.

Thanks folks for the suggustions! This is the simplest solution that somehow evaded me - after I pressure wash it (to phisically clean it) - I never even thought to boil it! Doh!!!
