echinodorus barthii plantlets and overall health

i've got 2 echinodorus barthii in my 55g tank and both were doing wonderfully up to the time they started shooting plantlets out and flowering. all other plants seem to be doing very well but these 2 have seemingly slowed and stunted almost. could it be that all their energy and nutrients are going to the plantlets and thus the main body would suffer?

any ideas?

The plants could be slowing down as they send a good portion of their energy toward reproducing.

Let the plantlets grow until you see enough roots growing from the plantlets for them to grow on their own. Then snip them off and plant them. The "mother' plants should start to respond and continue to grow.

bit of an update...pretty much as we figured there mike. chopped down all the plantlets and after several weeks the mother plants have rebounded to pristine state again!
