LFS in South Bay

Did you know two Petco's in the Bay area are arguably the best in the country? The one in Campbell in the Paseo Nuevo Center is #2 and the one in Sunnyvale is #37. I've been to both, and boy was I impressed.

The one in Campbell has great display tanks, and you can special order kewl fish.

The one in Sunnyvale has the healthiest fish I've seen in the area. Man was it great. Theres 4 othere LFS in the area too, and they all know each other.

In fact, if you go into either of these Petco's and can't find what you need, they can tell you the exact LFS to go to to get it! Talk about service and community support!!!

Anyways, their plant selections are pretty awesome too. Wonderful prices. Only problem is that sometimes their suppliers fudge up and don't send the weekly shipment, so they'll have poor selection every now and then.

Check them out!

Hi sarahbobarah,
I tried to look up the addresses for those 2 Petco's you mentioned but only found one . Can you provide me with their addresses?

Is this the address for the Sunnyvale store?
160 East El Camino Real
Sunnyvale, CA 94087
Ph: 408-774-0171

What's the address for the Campbell one?

I did a search on petco.com under "locate a petco"

Thanks for your help!

The store in Campbell is in a shopping center that is at the corner of Campbell Ave. and Saratoga Ave.

So according to the Petco site, that would be this store:

500 El Paseo De Saratoga
San Jose, CA 95130
408-866-7387

I'll have to check this place out on a lunch break.

It's certainly the best Petco fish dept. that I have seen. That said, I personally tend to avoid the big retailers like Petco. I think the good, knowledgeable LFS is a dying breed and when I find a good one, I prefer to give them my business.

You can't beat Albany or Ocean Aquarium for planted tanks, but unfortunately they are both quite quite far from me. I like Dolphin in Campbell ($$$), Natural Life Aquarium in Sunnyvale (talk to Manfred) and Tony at Sunrise Tropicals in Daly City (a must for discus enthusiasts).
